Pisa and Florence in a day. It was busy, and not optimal. However, it was our second cruise port as we sailed the Mediterranean for 12 nights with NCL. There were no excursion options that did everything we wanted, so we hired a private guide. We were met at the port, taken first to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pisa cathedral and the other sites in the plaza.
In Florence, we were not going to have time to see it all. We had to decide in advance is which art museum to visit. There is Accademia, which is home to Michelangelo’s David or the Uffiizi, one of the world’s top classical art museums.
It was a tough choice, but with copies of David all over the city, we opted for the Uffizi.
There are no photos allowed in the Uffiizi. Here are some of my favorite shots from our day in Florence, starting with this one from Piazza Duomo:

After Piza and Florence, our next stop was Rome and Vatican City before heading down around the bottom of the Italy.

The Duomo in Florence is one of my favourite buildings – when you get up close you realise that it isn’t grey at all but inlaid in beautiful shades of pink and green marble. I hope you don’t mind this link – Photo

How fun. Italy is a place I’d like to visit too. Germany then Switzerland, then Italy. Cool. Looks like you are making the most of your long vacation.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
