As an American expat living in New Zealand for well over 20 years, I have a unique perspective on everyday New Zealand life. After all this time, I can still see the country both as a local and through the eyes of a visitor discovering it for the first time.
When I created Albom Adventures, I naturally started with our New Zealand travel guides, sharing the places we love, practical tips, road trips, and ideas to help visitors make the most of their time here. But there is much more to New Zealand than the destinations most travellers come to see.

Here you’ll find articles about local life, traditions, celebrations, festivals, wildlife, and some of the quirks that make living here interesting. We also share plenty of beautiful places that don’t always fit neatly into a travel itinerary, from gardens and waterfalls to hot springs, walking trails, and other spots we have discovered along the way.
You’ll also find stories about uniquely Kiwi experiences, local events, native birds and animals, and some of the little differences we noticed when we first moved here. Some surprised us, some took a bit of getting used to, and others are now simply part of home.
